Omar Wilson Convicted of Murdering Chef Imnetu

Omar Wilson, a 31-year-old charity worker, was convicted of murder for the death of Mussie Imnetu, a top chef and former protégé of Gordon Ramsay, during the Notting Hill Carnival. The attack occurred outside a restaurant in Queensway, west London, where Wilson repeatedly punched and kicked Imnetu, who was heavily intoxicated and did not retaliate. After the assault, Wilson proceeded to a nightclub, admitting to a friend he had 'crossed the line' and calling himself a 'monster'. During his trial at the Old Bailey, Wilson claimed self-defense, believing Imnetu held a weapon, but CCTV footage contradicted his account, showing a brutal attack. Imnetu, who was visiting from Dubai, suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital four days later. The jury found Wilson guilty after deliberating for over 22 hours, citing the violence was unprovoked and excessive.
