Sharon Lokedi, John Korir Win Historic Boston Marathon Titles
At the 2025 Boston Marathon, Kenya's Sharon Lokedi broke the women's course record, finishing in 2:17:22, and outran two-time defending champion Hellen Obiri, who placed second. Lokedi's performance marked her second major marathon victory, following her 2022 New York Marathon win. In the men's race, John Korir of Kenya claimed the title with the second-fastest time in the event's history, clocking 2:04:45, and was joined on the podium by Tanzania's Alphonce Simbu and Kenya's Cybrian Kotut. American Conner Mantz finished fourth in the men's race, narrowly missing the podium, while Jess McClain was the top American woman, placing seventh with a personal best. In the wheelchair divisions, Susannah Scaroni of the U.S. won the women's race, and Switzerland's Marcel Hug took the men's title. The marathon took place as Boston commemorated the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War's start.
