Severe flooding in southern France has prompted the highest red warning level across six regions due to torrential rain, with 60 centimeters of rainfall recorded in just 48 hours. Approximately 900 people were evacuated in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region as roads and railways were closed, and numerous cars were seen submerged in floodwaters. Minister for Ecological Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher described the situation as unprecedented, highlighting the increasing frequency of such climate-related events. Hundreds of firefighters and helicopters have been mobilized, with schools in affected areas remaining closed. Authorities are urging residents to avoid flooded areas and have implemented a crisis team to manage the emergency response. Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities so far.
