Jane's Addiction Members File $10M Lawsuits Over Onstage Fight Ending Reunion Tour

Members of the alternative rock band Jane's Addiction have filed dueling lawsuits following an onstage altercation between singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during a 2024 Boston concert, which led to the cancellation of the band's reunion tour. Navarro, along with Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, sued Farrell for assault, battery, emotional distress, and breach of contract, seeking at least $10 million in damages, alleging Farrell was intoxicated and launched an unprovoked attack on Navarro both onstage and backstage. Farrell and his wife, Etty Lau Farrell, counter-sued, accusing Navarro and the other band members of bullying him by sabotaging performances and assaulting them, and claimed Navarro and Avery engineered a campaign to undermine him. Farrell also expressed feeling blindsided by the abrupt cancellation of the tour by his bandmates, which he said cost them significant money and damaged the band's legacy. The lawsuits reveal long-standing tensions within the band, which was influential in the late 1980s Los Angeles music scene and known for hits such as "Jane Says" and "Been Caught Stealing." Both sides accuse each other of unprofessional behavior and emotional damage, highlighting a bitter split over the band's future and past successes.
