Rockville Centre Police Certified Sensory Inclusive

Carbondale Police are participating in the federally funded 'Safer Together' training program aimed at enhancing personal wellness among officers and fostering community trust. The initiative, supported by the Department of Justice, seeks to build positive partnerships to improve public confidence in law enforcement. Meanwhile, the State College Police Department has launched an 'Interacting With Police Officers' training specifically tailored for individuals with disabilities, focusing on improving emergency interactions and safety. Additionally, Rockville Centre has become the first certified sensory-inclusive police department in New York, equipped with sensory tools to assist those with sensory needs during stressful situations. This training allows officers to better handle encounters with individuals affected by conditions like autism and PTSD. These initiatives across different departments reflect a growing commitment to improving police-community relations and addressing the unique needs of vulnerable populations.
