Carey Mulligan in Netflix's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew

Carey Mulligan is in negotiations to play the ailing mother of Digory in Greta Gerwig's adaptation of The Magician's Nephew, the prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, for Netflix. Mulligan joins a cast featuring Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew, Emma Mackey as a young White Witch, and Meryl Streep voicing Aslan. Gerwig, following her hit film Barbie, is both writing and directing, with production expected to begin next year. The film is slated to premiere with a two-week IMAX theatrical run during Thanksgiving 2026 before streaming exclusively on Netflix. This adaptation is part of Netflix's larger plan to develop new projects based on The Chronicles of Narnia, aiming for a fresh yet faithful take on the series.
