Jared Spurgeon Injured in Game vs. Predators

Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon is expected to miss two to three weeks due to a right leg injury sustained from a slew-foot by Nashville's Zachary L'Heureux. The incident occurred during a game on New Year's Eve, resulting in L'Heureux receiving a match penalty and a three-game suspension. General manager Bill Guerin indicated that the prognosis was better than initially feared, although Spurgeon faces yet another extended absence following previous season-ending surgeries. The Wild are also missing defenseman Jake Middleton and have leading scorer Kirill Kaprizov listed as day-to-day with an injury. Spurgeon had been performing well prior to this injury, contributing four goals and nine assists in 32 games this season. The Wild are currently second in the Central Division as they prepare for their next matchup against the Washington Capitals.
