Santa Rosa Breaks Rainfall Record Amid Intense Storm

Northern California, particularly the Bay Area, has been hit by a powerful atmospheric river storm over the past three days, resulting in heavy rainfall, mudslides, and widespread flooding. Santa Rosa experienced record-breaking rainfall, with totals surpassing previous records set in 2021, leading to significant flooding and power outages. The storm caused numerous road closures and water rescues, including over 300 people stranded at a hotel and medical clinic due to rising floodwaters. CAL Fire's swift water team conducted multiple rescues as roads and highways were inundated. While Southern California is also experiencing rainfall, it is expected to be beneficial rather than hazardous, helping to reduce fire risks temporarily. The National Weather Service has reported nearly 20 landslides and other disruptions in the region, highlighting the storm's intensity and impact.
