Ed Daniels, the longtime sports director at WGNO-TV in New Orleans, died on Friday at the age of 67 from complications following a massive heart attack suffered while covering the New Orleans Saints training camp in California. Known for his balanced and measured approach to sports journalism, Daniels' career spanned over four decades, during which he covered high school, college, and professional sports with enthusiasm and dedication. Funeral arrangements include a public visitation and memorial mass at St. Philip Neri Church, Metairie, on August 22, followed by a private burial and a public Celebration of Life at Rock N’ Bowl in New Orleans. Daniels was deeply respected in the community, earning numerous accolades such as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Orleans Press Club. He is survived by his wife, Robin, five children, and five grandchildren.
