Patrick McHenry joins a16z

He was a vocal critic of the SEC's regulatory approach under Gary Gensler, particularly concerning crypto regulation. During his tenure, McHenry co-sponsored the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (FIT21) to enhance regulatory clarity around digital assets. At a16z, McHenry aims to continue promoting innovation and reducing bureaucratic barriers for startups and emerging companies. The firm has been actively involved in crypto policy, having invested significantly in pro-crypto political action committees.
