Artists Investigated for Misusing COVID Relief Funds

An investigation by Business Insider has revealed that high-profile artists, including Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, and Marshmello, allegedly misappropriated millions in COVID-19 relief funds intended for struggling venues and artists. Lil Wayne reportedly received $8.9 million, spending substantial amounts on private jets, designer clothing, and personal expenses, including nearly $88,000 for a canceled concert. Chris Brown's company claimed $10 million, with $5.1 million paid directly to him and approximately $80,000 spent on a lavish birthday party. Marshmello also received $9.9 million, all of which he reportedly awarded to himself. The funds were meant for “ordinary and necessary” expenses, yet many artists are accused of using them for lavish lifestyles instead. The investigation remains ongoing, and no artist has yet responded to the allegations.
