Ally Wollaston Wins Tour of Britain Women, Denies GB’s Cat Ferguson
Ally Wollaston of FDJ-Suez secured her first World Tour General Classification victory by overturning a three-second deficit to British teenager Cat Ferguson in the Tour of Britain Women. Wollaston won all three intermediate sprints on the final stage in Glasgow, drawing level with Ferguson before gaining an additional four bonus seconds by finishing third in the stage behind Lorena Wiebes and Charlotte Kool. The race was tightly contested, with Wollaston and Ferguson nearly inseparable until the last sprint, where Wollaston's strong finish clinched the overall win by four seconds. Lorena Wiebes, the European champion, took the final stage victory with a powerful sprint, while Wollaston's team also won the team classification. Ferguson, despite losing the overall lead, claimed the red points jersey. Wollaston credited her teammates for their support and expressed overwhelming joy at achieving her biggest win to date.
