Saudi Arabia Unveils King Salman Stadium Plan

Saudi Arabia has unveiled the King Salman Stadium, a monumental sports facility designed by Populous, set to become the largest stadium in the country with a capacity of over 92,000. Scheduled for completion in late 2029, this stadium will serve as the main headquarters for the Saudi national football team and host events for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, as part of a broader initiative that includes the construction of 11 new stadiums. The design, inspired by the local natural landscape, symbolizes a seed germinating, and features amenities such as a Royal Box, VVIP and VIP seating, and recreational facilities. Beyond the stadium, the development will encompass an athletics stadium, aquatics center, and community sports park, promoting grassroots sports engagement. The project aims to blend sports with nature, creating a world-class hub for entertainment and athleticism in Riyadh. This venture underscores Saudi Arabia's ambition to position itself as a leader in global sports and entertainment.
