Overturned Lorry Closes M25; M1 Crash Causes Delays

A lorry overturned on the M25 in Surrey Thursday morning, closing all four anticlockwise lanes between J10 (Cobham/Wisley) and J9 (Leatherhead) and causing heavy delays of up to around an hour with congestion back to J11 and through Byfleet, Cobham, Oxshott and Chessington. National Highways traffic officers, Surrey Police and ambulance crews are at the scene managing a complex recovery; traffic diversions are in place and the recovery operation is under way. National Highways first reported the incident at about 10:40 GMT. Separately, a four‑car crash on the M1 southbound between J16 (Dundalk South) and J15 (Castlebellingham) this morning caused significant rush‑hour tailbacks, with unfinished overnight roadworks at J15 compounding delays. That M1 incident was cleared by about 08:30. Drivers are advised to allow extra journey time or consider alternative routes while emergency services and traffic officers continue to manage the scenes.
