Chiefs Dominate Raiders 31-0, Mark First Regular-Season Shutout Since 2011
The Kansas City Chiefs steamrolled the Las Vegas Raiders 31–0 at Arrowhead, dominating in all phases — outgaining Las Vegas roughly 434 to 95, holding the ball more than 42 minutes, and limiting the Raiders to just three first downs and about 30 offensive plays — prompting celebratory reaction from fans and marking Kansas City’s first regular-season shutout in more than a decade. Patrick Mahomes passed for 286 yards and three touchdowns (including two to Rashee Rice in his first game back), while Andy Reid praised a nearly complete team effort and the defense set franchise-level marks for the outing. The loss left Las Vegas 2–5 and underscored that rookie RB Ashton Jeanty, despite earlier flashes this season, cannot carry a broken offense alone after gaining only 21 yards on six carries in the rout. Las Vegas’ offensive line and passing game were mauled, veteran defenders limped out of the locker room, and the team remains searching for an identity under its supposed “win-now” mandate. Kansas City did sustain O-line concerns late in the game — right guard Trey Smith (back) and right tackle Jawaan Taylor (shoulder) exited and backups like Mike Caliendo and Hunter Nourzad spelled starters — but the depth held up to finish the blowout, which Reid said provides momentum moving forward while expressing sympathy for Pete Carroll and the Raiders.
