Hong Kong Marks Arrival of New Year 2025

Hong Kong welcomed the new year with a grand fireworks display over Victoria Harbour, themed 'The Symphony of Happiness', symbolizing wishes for prosperity in 2025. Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu emphasized the need for Hong Kong to adapt to both internal and external changes while aligning with mainland China's strategic development. He announced plans for 2025 to enhance Hong Kong's status as an international innovation and technology hub, particularly through the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone. The city also celebrated the arrival of its first babies of the year, with a boy born at 12:07 AM, followed by other newborns shortly after. Meanwhile, countries across Asia including China and India also rang in the new year with various celebrations. In Bangladesh, the new year came amid significant political changes, following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
