Nigeria Non-Oil Exports Surge 19.6% to $3.23B H1 2025

Nigeria’s non-oil exports surged by 19.59% to $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025, up from $2.696 billion in the same period of 2024, according to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). Export volumes increased to 4.04 million metric tonnes, driven by growing demand from markets including India, Brazil, Vietnam, and other African countries. The export product base is diversifying from traditional agricultural commodities to higher-value semi-manufactured and manufactured goods, with cocoa beans remaining a top export. Nigeria also exported 663 million metric tonnes of products to 11 ECOWAS countries, highlighting the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in boosting regional trade. Key companies like Indorama Eleme Fertiliser and Chemical Ltd and Starlink Global and Ideal Ltd maintained leading export positions. The NEPC emphasized ongoing efforts to expand market access, improve product quality, and strengthen Nigeria’s presence in international and intra-African markets.
