Myrtle Beach Hit-and-Run Kills Tourist, Suspect Arrested

A hit-and-run occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. near 21st Avenue South and Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Kansas tourist Dezhon Overton and injuring another pedestrian. Both victims were transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where Overton later died. Police arrested 39-year-old Bryan O’Neal Thomas, aided by surveillance cameras and license plate readers from the Real Time Crime Unit. Thomas faces two counts of hit-and-run, including one resulting in death, and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward. The community and police have expressed condolences to those affected.
