After being dropped for Australia's three-Test tour in the West Indies due to low returns and scoring only one century in 53 innings, Labuschagne has used his time away from the spotlight to recalibrate and hone his batting. He expressed confidence in his ability to return to form, recalling that two years ago he was one of the world's best batters. If selected, Labuschagne could resume his usual number three batting position, potentially moving all-rounder Cameron Green down the order. This shift in mindset comes after Labuschagne played his 58th Test in the World Test Championship final against South Africa in June and participated in a recent 50-over series against South Africa at home. The primary goal for Labuschagne is to regain consistency and mental clarity to perform at the highest level during the Ashes.
