Trial Continues in Murder Case of Sara Sharif

In the ongoing trial regarding the death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, neighbours have testified about disturbing noises coming from the family home in West Byfleet. Rebecca Spencer, a former neighbour, described hearing constant crying, banging, and screaming, which prompted her to inquire about the situation, only to be met with the door being slammed in her face by Sara's stepmother, Beinash Batool. Sara's father, Urfan Sharif, and uncle, Faisal Malik, are also on trial alongside Batool, all of whom deny the charges of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child. Sara was found dead in August 2023 after her father contacted police from Pakistan, admitting he had “beat her up too much.” Jurors have heard accounts of the family's tumultuous atmosphere, including descriptions of loud noises and signs of distress from the children. The trial continues as more evidence is presented regarding the circumstances leading to Sara's tragic death.
