Calandagan and Economics to Clash at Ascot

The highly anticipated Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot will feature a showdown between joint-favourites Economics and Calandagan, both boasting impressive records this year. Economics, trained by William Haggas, has won all four of his races in 2024 and aims to become only the seventh horse to win both the Irish and British Champion Stakes in the same year. Calandagan, trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, has also shown strong form, including a win at the King Edward VII Stakes and a close finish behind City Of Troy. The race will take place on softer ground than usual due to recent rain, presenting a new challenge for competitors.
