Apple TV+ unveils crime drama Smoke, premieres June 27
Apple TV+ has unveiled its new crime drama series 'Smoke,' created by Dennis Lehane and starring Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett. The nine-episode series, inspired by true events and the 'Firebug' podcast, follows a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator as they track down two serial arsonists. Egerton plays arson investigator Dave Gudsen, while Smollett portrays detective Michelle Calderone, with a supporting cast that includes Anna Chlumsky, Greg Kinnear, John Leguizamo, Rafe Spall, and others. The series will premiere globally on June 27 with a two-episode debut, followed by weekly releases through August 8. 'Smoke' is produced by Apple Studios, with Egerton among the executive producers alongside creators from EDEN Productions, Imperative Entertainment, and Truth Podcasting Corp. The series builds on the creative team's prior success with Apple TV+ miniseries 'Black Bird.'
