Tyrone Mings appointed to Euro 2028 board of directors

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has been appointed to the board of UK & Ireland 2028 Limited, the organization responsible for delivering UEFA Euro 2028, which will be co-hosted by England, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Mings, alongside three independent non-executive directors, will help oversee the tournament's logistics and operations, while continuing his playing career with Villa. The board will be chaired by Debbie Hewitt, chair of the English Football Association, and includes other notable figures from the football community. The inaugural board meeting is set for March 28 in Cardiff, with the tournament aimed at boosting football development and generating significant economic benefits. Mings, who has 18 caps for England and was part of the Euro 2020 squad, faces potential challenges in balancing his new role with his playing duties. The tournament is expected to restore UEFA's financial stability post-pandemic, with modern stadiums expected to enhance revenue generation.
