Core Scientific Invests $400M in Auburn, Alabama

Core Scientific Inc. is expanding its operations in Auburn, Alabama, with a $135 million investment in a high-performance computing facility located within the AUBix data center. This project is expected to exceed a total investment of $400 million, contributing to the growth of Alabama's technology sector. The facility will initially operate with a capacity of 16 megawatts and aims to create at least 20 full-time jobs, building on the existing workforce of 11 employees. Governor Kay Ivey expressed support for the investment, highlighting Alabama's pro-business environment and the anticipated economic benefits. Core Scientific currently operates nine data centers across several states and plans to enhance its capabilities to support artificial intelligence workloads. This expansion marks a significant step in the company's strategy to strengthen its presence in the high-performance computing market.
