Ethio Telecom Reports 162 Billion Birr Revenue, 83 Million Subscribers in 2024/25

Ethio Telecom reported strong financial and operational performance during the 2024/25 Ethiopian fiscal year, generating 162 billion Birr in revenue, marking a 72.9% increase from the previous year and achieving 99% of its annual target. The company’s customer base expanded to 83.2 million, with significant growth in mobile voice, mobile internet, and fixed broadband subscribers, supported by extensive network infrastructure upgrades, including 5G access in 26 cities and 4G in 936 cities. Ethio Telecom's international services contributed 193.1 million USD in revenue, exceeding targets, while its digital financial service Telebirr processed high transaction volumes and increased its user base by 15.3%. The company’s pretax profit surged over 80% year-on-year to about 76 billion Birr, driven by network expansion and customer growth. These achievements reflect the success of Ethio Telecom’s three-year LEAD Growth Strategy, which included deploying over 1,600 new mobile sites, expanding fiber infrastructure, and enhancing digital service offerings, supporting Ethiopia’s broader digital transformation goals. The company is also preparing for a public listing on the Ethiopia Securities Exchange as part of the government’s economic liberalization efforts.
