Peaty began feeling unwell on the day of the final and his condition worsened overnight, leading to a positive Covid test on Monday morning. Despite the setback, Peaty remains hopeful of competing in the upcoming relay events. Team GB is taking all necessary precautions to manage his illness and prevent the spread of the virus within their delegation. Peaty narrowly missed out on a historic third consecutive Olympic gold by just 0.02 seconds, finishing behind Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi.
