Fidra Energy Partners with Sungrow on BESS

Fidra Energy has partnered with Sungrow to establish a 10GW battery energy storage system (BESS) platform across the UK and Europe by 2030, signing a strategic 4.4GWh energy storage agreement. Sungrow will supply its PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems to two sites in the UK: Thorpe Marsh in South Yorkshire, which aims to power up to 800,000 homes, and West Burton C in Nottinghamshire, expected to power 300,000 homes. Construction for the Thorpe Marsh site is set to begin in 2025, while West Burton C will start in 2026. Both projects are part of Fidra's broader strategy to utilize battery storage technology to aid Europe’s energy transition. The partnership is anticipated to enhance the resilience and stability of the UK's power grid and support renewable energy goals. Executives from Fidra and Sungrow emphasized their commitment to energy innovation and the importance of battery storage in achieving sustainability objectives.
