Swanson, Cubs Top Marlins 5-2 with Home Runs
Dansby Swanson powered the Chicago Cubs to a 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins with a two-run homer, his ninth of the season, tying him with Francisco Lindor for most home runs by a shortstop in MLB. Seiya Suzuki added a two-run homer, while Miguel Amaya and Kyle Tucker contributed to the Cubs' offense. Colin Rea earned the win and Drew Pomeranz recorded his first save since 2020. Swanson has been batting .422 with five homers and twelve runs scored over his last 13 games, dramatically improving his season stats. The Cubs extended their home series opener winning streak to seven games. The Marlins, meanwhile, suffered their fourth loss in five games.
