Five Arrested in 1994 Taxi Driver Murder
Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the 30-year-old murder of taxi driver Ethsham Ul-Haq Ghafoor, known as Shami, who was found shot dead in his taxi in Nottingham on November 22, 1994. Ghafoor was discovered by a milkman with his hands tied to the steering wheel, and police described his death as an 'execution'. To mark the anniversary of the crime, Nottinghamshire Police relaunched their investigation, offering a £50,000 reward for information that could lead to a conviction. The arrested suspects include four men aged 64, 57, 52, 51, and a 47-year-old woman. Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin expressed gratitude to the community for their assistance and urged anyone with further information to come forward. Ghafoor's family has endured 30 years of pain and isolation due to his tragic loss, emphasizing the impact of the crime on their lives.
