Minister Faces Charges After Fatal DUI Crash in Florida

Nicholas Betancourt, a 33-year-old Florida minister, is facing multiple charges including DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide after a fatal crash on February 28. Just hours after being released from jail for a DUI arrest, Betancourt collided with Dana Maria Rivera's vehicle, resulting in her death and serious injuries to her three children, aged 4, 6, and 15. Investigators found evidence that Betancourt was under the influence of several drugs, including cocaine and methamphetamine, at the time of the crash. According to authorities, he was driving at approximately 58 mph in a 45 mph zone and did not attempt to brake before the collision. Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the tragedy as a consequence of Betancourt's reckless decisions. Following the incident, he was hospitalized and subsequently arrested again, facing a total of 27 charges related to the crash and his drug use.
