Venkatesh Iyer Joins Lancashire for Five Weeks

Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has joined Lancashire for a five-week stint, where he will participate in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup and two County Championship matches against Surrey and Hampshire. Iyer, who played a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders' 2024 IPL victory, aims to benefit from the experience of playing in English conditions and hopes to make a comeback to the Indian national team. Lancashire’s Director of Cricket, Mark Chilton, praised Iyer for his explosive batting and seam bowling capabilities, which will add depth to the young side. Iyer is looking forward to following in the footsteps of Indian greats like Farokh Engineer, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman. He is set to return to India for the Duleep Trophy in September.
