Jahdae Barron Wins 2024 Jim Thorpe Award

Texas Longhorns cornerback Jahdae Barron has been named the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award winner, recognizing him as the best defensive back in college football. Barron is the third Longhorn to receive this honor, joining previous winners Michael Huff and Aaron Ross. This season, he led the SEC with five interceptions, contributing to Texas's elite pass defense, which ranks first in the nation in fewest passing yards allowed. Alongside Barron, offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. was awarded the Outland Trophy for best interior lineman, marking him as the second consecutive Longhorn to win this award. Both players have been pivotal in Texas's strong defensive and offensive performances throughout the season. Barron’s achievements highlight his versatility and leadership, having played in 54 career games with significant contributions across multiple seasons.
