LPG Tanker Collision Fire Kills 7, Injures 16 in Hoshiarpur Punjab

A tragic collision between an LPG tanker and a pickup truck in Mandiala village, Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, caused a massive fire and explosion, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to at least 16 others. The fire rapidly engulfed around 30 shops and 20 houses, with several victims suffering severe burns, some over 90 percent, leading to multiple deaths in hospitals. Among the deceased were local residents and the tanker driver, with many injured patients receiving free treatment under the Punjab government's Farishta Scheme. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed condolences, announced financial aid of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased, and assured free medical care for the injured. Authorities have launched a magisterial inquiry into allegations of LPG pilferage from tankers in the area, and several vigilance and vehicle regulation committees have been formed to ensure safety and prevent illegal activities involving hazardous substances. The Governor of Punjab also extended sympathies and lauded the swift response of emergency services, urging the public to cooperate with relief efforts and avoid the accident site.
