Ontario IndyCar Race Moves to Markham Ending Toronto Run

The annual IndyCar Series race, known as the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto and held at Exhibition Place since 1986, will relocate to a new street circuit in downtown Markham beginning in 2026 under a multi-year agreement. The new temporary track in Markham’s eastern precinct will be 3.52 kilometers long with 12 turns and is designed by renowned track designer Tony Cotman. Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti expressed pride in hosting the event and highlighted the city’s commitment to building on its sports legacy. The move is partly driven by the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will use Exhibition Place for matches, necessitating the relocation. Race organizers and local officials emphasized that the Markham event is intended as a permanent new home for the race, not a temporary solution. The announcement reflects collaboration between Green Savoree Toronto, IndyCar, the City of Markham, and the Province of Ontario to establish a new motorsports tradition in the region.
