Minnesota Assassin Confesses, Blames Gov. Walz for Legislature Shootings

Vance Luther Boelter, accused of a murderous shooting rampage targeting Minnesota lawmakers, left a handwritten confession letter addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel in which he blamed Governor Tim Walz for inciting the violence through his policies and rhetoric. Boelter, charged with murdering former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and seriously wounding State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, also alleged in the letter that Walz had instructed him to kill U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar so Walz could run for the U.S. Senate, a claim denied and unsupported by evidence according to officials. The letter revealed Boelter's conspiratorial mindset, including claims of off-the-books military training and naming other political figures as targets. Authorities found a hit list with around 70 names in Boelter's possession, including Gov. Walz, Senator Tina Smith, and others, but the investigation has found no factual basis for the allegations against the governor. Boelter was apprehended after the largest manhunt in Minnesota history and faces multiple charges, including murder, stalking, and firearms offenses, with prosecutors seeking swift justice. Governor Walz expressed gratitude to law enforcement and prosecutors while condemning the tragedy that shocked Minnesotans.
