Severe Flooding in India and Pakistan Causes Deaths

Heavy monsoon rains have caused severe flooding across southern India, particularly affecting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, resulting in at least 33 confirmed deaths and significant destruction. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued red alerts in numerous districts, prompting the relocation of over 4,000 people to relief camps and the deployment of state resources for rescue efforts. The flooding, exacerbated by remnants of a cyclone, has also led to considerable damage to infrastructure and agriculture, with reports indicating the deaths of more than 60 people across three states, including Gujarat, where the Army is assisting in rescue operations. In Pakistan, recent downpours have resulted in at least 10 fatalities, primarily due to landslides and electrocution, with Balochistan emerging as the hardest-hit province.
