Georgia Inmate Kills Aramark Employee, Aureon Grace, Then Self at Smith State Prison
An inmate at Smith State Prison in Glennville, Georgia, fatally shot a 24-year-old kitchen worker, Aureon Shavea Grace, before killing himself early Sunday morning. Jaydrekus Hart, who was serving a 20-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter, obtained a firearm and carried out the shooting at around 4:30 a.m. The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating how Hart acquired the weapon and the motives behind the incident. This tragic event marks the second killing of a staff member at the prison in less than a year. Grace, an employee of Aramark, had been working at the prison since January. Condolences and tributes for Grace flooded social media, highlighting her kind and pure-hearted nature.
