A humanitarian plane used by the World Food Program (WFP) was damaged during an Islamist attack in Bamako, Mali, with the Al-Qaeda-linked group JNIM claiming responsibility. The attack occurred on Tuesday when militants targeted a military training camp and the airport, resulting in clashes that left several soldiers dead. Fortunately, the WFP's crew and staff were unharmed and had taken shelter in a safe house. National Airways Corporation (NAC), which owns the damaged aircraft, criticized the incident as a tragic disruption of humanitarian efforts in Mali. Despite the attack, life in Bamako reportedly continued unaffected, although the situation remains tense following a decade-long insurgency in the region, exacerbated by military coups and the expulsion of French forces. The Malian army has stated that they have captured at least 15 suspects and have the situation under control.
