Hannover Re Plans Increase Regular Dividend Payout Ratio to 55% from 2025
Hannover Re, the world's third-largest reinsurer, announced a strategic adjustment to its dividend policy effective from the 2025 financial year, raising the regular dividend payout ratio to approximately 55% of IFRS Group net income, up from 46% in 2024. The company plans to maintain or increase the dividend per share over the long term, integrating the previously routine special dividend into the regular dividend. Future special dividends will only be issued in exceptional circumstances. This change reflects Hannover Re's strong capital position, which supports both profitable growth and increased shareholder returns. The new dividend approach emphasizes stability and long-term growth in dividends, marking a shift from prior practices where special dividends were regularly paid out. The policy aims to balance rewarding shareholders while ensuring sustainable financial health for the company.
