Wonder Food Hall Expands to Seven DC-Area Locations
Wonder, a food hall and delivery service founded by former Walmart executive Marc Lore, is expanding into the Washington, D.C. area with plans to open seven locations, including in Rosslyn, Reston, and Franconia. The company partners with celebrity chefs like José Andrés, Bobby Flay, Nancy Silverton, and Marcus Samuelsson to offer dishes from a variety of acclaimed restaurants under one roof, allowing customers to order from multiple menus in a single transaction. Wonder locations function as both traditional food halls with on-site dining and as 'ghost kitchens' focused on fast delivery, promising meals delivered within 30 minutes. The flagship D.C. location is set to open on 14th Street in June or July, with additional openings scheduled throughout the summer and fall. Wonder has also acquired companies such as Grubhub, Blue Apron, and Tastemade to bolster its food delivery and media capabilities. The company will partner with DC Central Kitchen to support hunger relief and job training programs in the region.
