Sam Hou Fai Elected Chief Executive of Macau

Sam Hou Fai, former top judge of Macao, has been elected as the region's next leader, becoming the first chief executive born in mainland China. In a largely ceremonial election, he received 394 out of 398 votes from an election committee primarily composed of Beijing loyalists, marking a significant shift from the tradition of electing leaders from influential local business families.
