The Madras High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs 5 lakh each to two girls and Rs 1 lakh each to 21 other girls who were sexually assaulted at a fake NCC camp in Krishnagiri. This decision was made during a hearing of a public interest litigation filed by Advocate A P Suryaprakasam, who also requested a CBI investigation into the case. The compensation will be deposited in Mahila Court, allowing victims' families to claim it, and the government is permitted to recover the costs from the school management. So far, 20 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, with multiple FIRs filed and numerous witnesses examined. The court has directed that a special officer manage the school implicated in the scandal. The hearing has been adjourned to September 30 for further proceedings.
