Russian Attacks Kill 10-16 Civilians Across Ukraine Amid Zelenskyy NATO Appeals
Recent Russian strikes across Ukraine have resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction, with at least 14 to 16 civilians killed and dozens injured in multiple attacks targeting schools, hospitals, homes, and public infrastructure. Among the hardest-hit areas were the cities of Kyiv and Dnipro, where missile and drone barrages caused partial building collapses and shattered windows, affecting even train passengers. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been actively seeking increased military and economic support from NATO allies during summits in The Hague and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the need to bolster Ukraine's defense industry and curtail foreign components fueling Russian weaponry. Zelenskyy condemned Russia's use of North Korean missiles and highlighted a coalition involving Russia, North Korea, and Iran supplying drones and missiles. Despite intensified Russian efforts to advance along Ukraine's front lines, the Institute for the Study of War notes little significant territorial gain, citing Ukraine's effective drone-based defenses and the poor training of Russian infantry. European leaders have condemned Russia's deliberate targeting of civilians, pledging additional sanctions, while Zelenskyy continues to press for new strategies to pressure Russia and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
