Chrystal Armstrong Brown Named Permanent CEO United Way Greater Knoxville After Nationwide Search

Chrystal Armstrong Brown has been appointed as the permanent president and CEO of United Way of Greater Knoxville following a comprehensive nationwide search that reviewed more than 200 candidates from 27 states. Previously serving as interim CEO since November 2024 and Chief Impact Officer since April 2023, Brown has been recognized for her visionary leadership, operational discipline, and the trust she has built within the community. The board praised her successful management during uncertain financial times and her initiation of several impactful programs targeting early childhood care, economic mobility, and health. Brown's background includes leadership roles at Emerald Youth Foundation and United Way of Southwest Virginia, along with extensive ministry experience in Knoxville.
