Midtown NYC Shooting Kills Five Including NYPD, Injures NFL Employee
A mass shooting at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, which houses the NFL headquarters alongside other major firms, left four people dead, including an off-duty NYPD officer, and seriously injured an NFL employee. The gunman, Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old licensed private investigator from Las Vegas with a documented history of mental health issues, opened fire in the building's lobby before moving to the 33rd floor, where he ultimately took his own life. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed the injured employee is in stable condition and assured that the league is supporting the staff member's family while expressing gratitude for the rapid law enforcement response and honoring Officer Didarul Islam, who died protecting others. The NFL offices, located on floors five through eight, were placed on lockdown during the incident, and employees were advised to work remotely following the shooting. Authorities continue to investigate Tamura's motive, with police and city officials still unraveling the circumstances leading to the attack. Enhanced security measures have been promised at the NFL headquarters in the aftermath of the tragedy.
