Man Sentenced for Plotting Attack on Jewish Community

Christopher Brown, a 23-year-old from Long Island, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for plotting a terror attack against synagogues in New York City. Arrested on November 18, 2022, at Penn Station, Brown had expressed antisemitic sentiments on social media and sought to emulate the 2019 Christchurch shooter. Prosecutors revealed that he paid a co-defendant $650 to purchase a loaded firearm in Pennsylvania, which was uncovered during his arrest along with other weapons and Nazi memorabilia. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg emphasized the rising antisemitism faced by the Jewish community and noted the importance of law enforcement collaboration in ensuring safety. Brown had pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon as a crime of terrorism, admitting to making violent threats online. The case against his co-defendant remains pending.
