George R.R. Martin Praises HBO's New Spinoff

George R.R. Martin has expressed high praise for HBO's upcoming 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms', a Game of Thrones spinoff set to debut in 2025. The series, based on Martin's 'The Hedge Knight' novella, takes place 100 years before Game of Thrones and focuses on the characters Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his squire Egg. Martin noted that the show is a 'character piece' emphasizing duty and honor rather than dragons or massive battles, a departure from traditional Game of Thrones elements. He has seen all six episodes and finds the adaptation faithful, commending the performances of lead actors Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell. Despite not featuring dragons or White Walkers, a major fight scene is promised to be thrilling. The series is already moving towards a second season, covering the story 'The Sworn Sword'.
