Major General Roddis Charged with Sexual Assault

Major General James Roddis, a highly decorated former senior Army officer, is set to be the first high-ranking British military official charged with a sex crime. Roddis will appear at Bulford Military Court Centre on July 17, facing charges of sexual assault by touching under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. Having served for 30 years, Roddis earned numerous awards, including a Distinguished Service Order and an MBE, and held significant posts such as Director of Strategy at Strategic Command. His case marks only the second time in over 200 years that a Major General has faced a military trial, following the 2021 fraud conviction of Major General Nick Welch. The Army has emphasized its commitment to high standards of behavior and serious handling of misconduct allegations.
