Colorado Man Dies After Scuba Diving Incident Hawaii
Greg Durocher, a 51-year-old man from Castle Rock, Colorado, died after a possible drowning incident while taking scuba diving lessons with his family at Waiolena Beach Park in Hilo, Hawaii. After spending approximately 38 to 40 minutes in the water, Durocher returned to shore complaining of difficulty breathing and soon became unresponsive. His family and the dive instructor performed CPR until medics arrived and transported him to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after admission. Police have initiated a coroner's inquest to determine the exact cause of death but have stated that no foul play is suspected. Authorities have requested anyone with information about the incident to contact the local police. The case highlights the risks involved with scuba diving, even for those participating in lessons, and has drawn condolences from the community.
