Singapore Arbitrator Allows Zee to Enforce Sony Merger
News summary

Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has rejected Sony Pictures' application for emergency interim relief in its ongoing case with Zee Entertainment. Sony had applied for the emergency ruling as it sought to prevent Zee from pursuing legal action against it via the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and other legal avenues. The Japanese firm had requested the emergency arbitrator to rule that it is entitled to a $90m termination fee from Zee after calling off their $10bn merger in January. Zee has said it will continue to pursue the merger at the NCLT.
